Warming up the grid…
The career is a cup in each world: its three circuits in turn against the same five rivals, points for every place. Finish the cup in the top three and the next world opens, and so do new cars. Win every world's cup on Pro or harder and you have beaten the game. Single race and time trial open every circuit.
Hold the handbrake into a corner with the wheel turned and the car commits to the slide: steering now only tightens or widens the arc. Sparks at the back wheels turn blue, then orange — let go and you get a kick of speed, bigger for orange. Run onto the snow or the grass and the charge drains away.
Hit the gas just as the lights go green for a turbo off the line. Too early and the wheels just spin.
The car drives itself. Slide a thumb anywhere on the left to steer — the further it slides, the harder you turn. Hold anywhere on the right to drift; let go for the kick. ★, bottom left above your item, fires it — a drift holds its line while your left thumb taps it. Touch the right side as the lights go green for a rocket start.
Grass and dirt will slow you down and steal your grip. Barriers hurt more.
